cancer is not the only type of cancer chanced when you light a cigarette.
So, what kind of cancer does smoking cause? Well, smoking has been connected to many types of cancer, including oral cancer, stomach cancer, throat cancer, bladder cancer, colon cancer and so on. Furthermore, smoking is believed to be an aggravating element, rushing the patient towards an untimely demise.

It is common knowledge that smoking cigarettes, cigars or pipes can lead to oral cancer, as well as cancer in the esophagus and larynx. Another catalyst for the threats faced when smoking is alcohol, which greatly multiplies the risks you are facing. According to studies, some 54% of cases of oral cancer, half of esophagus cancer and two thirds of larynx cancer cases are believed to be caused by smoking. Also, almost one half of stomach cancer and one third of penis cancer cases are thought to have been caused by smoking.
Women face a greater risk of developing cervical cancer if they are smokers. Approximately one fifth of cervical cancer cases can be blamed on smoking, even though veteran and chain smokers may have this percentage raised to 80%. However, it is correct that lung cancer is the most commonly encountered form of cancer developed by smoking patients. Almost all cases of lung cancer are the direct result of smoking and, according to studies, one in four smokers will eventually die of lung cancer.
Beyond any doubt, smokers are much more prone to developing lung cancer, as opposed to non-smokers. However, non-smokers too are exposed to the risks of cigarettes, through passive smoke, which is believed to be even more detrimental than active smoking. Smoking, therefore, is one of the major risk factors in the appearance of any type of cancer and quitting smoking greatly reduces these risks even in the first few days of being a non-smoker.
Tobacco smoke is known to contain some 4,000 chemicals, fumes and poisonous substances. Close to 60 of these substances are well known for their cancer causing potential. Most of the chemicals and substances that cause cancer are mainly found in the cigarette, which is inhaled through the cigarette smoke and which forms sticky brown deposits within the lungs.

Other forms of cancer caused by smoking may not occur due to contact with the cigarette smoke, but mainly due to the substances and chemicals absorbed by the body. These forms of cancer are bladder cancer, pancreas cancer, uterus cancer and so on, which occur since the chemicals are drawn into the blood, and the blood carries them to other parts of the body where they can damage or mutate other cells.
