So many people wonder how Farah Fawcett got anal cancer. Well, she talked about her ilness and her incredible fight with this disease but she did not make her medical file public, so only a few people know exactly what happened. Even if she released a documentary about her disease and treatment, it was made only with the purpose of making people all over the world aware of the danger of getting cancer, any form of cancer, and trying to identify it in the early stages when there are more chances of curing it. However, she did not get into details as talking about the causes of its anal cancer or give more details about it.

But the statistics say that 90% of the anal cancer is caused by HPV, so there ia a good chance that Ms Fawcett had this virus, too. This is only one of the many circumstances that gather and cause the cancer to appear in the anal area. Apparently the cancer gene ran in the family as her sister died of cancer when she was really young. And usually those having cancer history in the family have a higher chance of developing cancer, not necessarily in the same area or organ.
Also the actress had a surgery procedure removing a small tumour located in the anal area when she was a child and this, too, can be the start of all her problems. It is a known fact that all trauma and injuries can lead to future problems or even cancer. Unfortunately the beautiful actress had more than one risk factor that could generate the cause for developing anal cancer. She was 60 when she was diagnosed and most anal cancers appear around this age. She was also a heavy smoker and she had this habit for a long time and this is also considered a risk factor, as the doctors say, although there is no direct connection between smoking and the anal area, but this is once again proof that smoking affects more than the lungs - in fact it affects the whole body.

Even though most people wouldn't talk about it as it is consider inappropriate or tabu, anal sex and more sex partners are also considered to be a high risk factor for developing anal cancer because of the injuries that may appear this way. I won't go so far as suggesting anything, I am just stating the medical conclusions after thorough research. Anyway, even the fact that she chose to speak openly about its anal cancer is a strong proof that she wanted to make people aware of this menace and make them want to search more information about it and try to find ways of preventing it.
