Farrah Fawcett was an iconic image for the 1970s TV series - Charlie's Angels. She was extremely beautiful and athletic and was best remembered for her gorgeous smile and nice long blond hair. But all good things in life must come to an end and that happened in her case, too. Although she lead a very healthy and active life, she was diagnosed with anal cancer in 2006 and that proved once again that cancer causes are unknown until this very moment and it affects all people, no matter what their lifestyle or diet or even social status. This also proved that actors from Hollywood are not gods, but only humans, too, and they can also get sick and die just like the rest of us. I honestly felt sorry for her both as an actress and as a person because nobody deserves getting cancer and most certainly nobody deserves dying because of it.

After the diagnosis, she had to go through surgery and severe treatment and after four months she announced everybody that she was cured and cancer free. Unfortunately her cancer had a different agenda with her and reappeared in 2009. At first Farrah kept her condition away from the public knowledge because she said the issue was very personal and should stay that way. But after some time, especially after the cancer'c recurrence, Farrah Fawcett cancer update in all the papers and tv shows let people know about the disease she had and the fact that she was making a documentary about her experience as a cancer patient.

It was considered very brave of her, especially considering the fact that her type of cancer was anal and people usually tend to avoid such topics of discussion, even if it's cancer, because it's considered somewhat frivolous or even shameful, as if it was her fault in a way that she got cancer. But the specialists considered her documentary very interesting and important because her cancer type is extremely rare. She tried to be as objective as possible and present fact instead of feelings and that is why her work was nominated for an award.



The reoccurence of cancer that was first thought to be only an anal polyp, and the inefficiency of the previous treatments, made her consider alternative methods of dealing with this disease , so she went to Germany in a private clinic. Nobody knows for sure what was the treatment she followed there, but the thing is that when she retunred home in America her cancer had already spread to her liver.



Although her friends and family members tried to hide her real situation, her life long companion , also actor Ryan Mc Neal gave a Farrah Fawcett cancer update to the press and disclosed the fact that the actress had metastatic cancer and was fighting for her life with all her strength. In fact he wanted to make a grand gesture and marry Farrah on her death bed, but she refused politely. Her painful struggle ended in June 25th 2009, the same day Michael Jackson died, and was supported all the way by family and friends.

An angel on Earth, she went to heaven to be an angel there, too.
