Kylie Ann Minogue is an Australian singer, actress and songwriter. She was born on May 28^th 1968 in Melbourne, Australia. She started her career as a child, in the soap opera Neighbors and then in 1987 she started recording. "Locomotion", her first single, was Australia’s No 1 single for almost seven weeks and her album became the best sold album of the decade. She then received a contract with producers Stock, Aitken & Waterman. "I should be so lucky" became No 1 in the United Kingdom and "The Delinquents" was a box office in both Australia and the United Kingdom.



Kylie Minogue was well received by the public from the beginning and in 1992 she started performing as an independent artist. The duet with Nick Cave, in "Where the wild roses grow" brought Kylie more artistic credibility. Inspired by several artists and musical currents, Kylie Minogue took creative control and worked at her new album, "Impossible Princess", released in 1997. In the United Kingdom it did not draw good reviews, but it was a great success in Australia.



She then returned in 2000, with the "Spinning Around" single and "Light Years" album, and she was chosen to perform at the opening ceremonies of the 2000 Sydney Olympics. Her videos were more flirtatious and provocative. The "Fever" album, released in 2001 was a worldwide success. In 2005, the performer was diagnosed with breast cancer. She was on a tour that year, but she had to cancel it because of the disease.

After she has surgery and chemotherapy, Kylie Minogue returned to the spotlights in 2006 with 'Showgirl: The Homecoming Tour'. Then, in 2008 the studio released her tenth album, X, and the release of the album was followed by the KylieX2008 tour.

In 2009 she programmed the "For Me, For You" Tour in Canada and the United Kingdom. Even if in her early years of career the critics dismissed Kylie Minogue, she managed to achieve worldwide record sales, more than 60 million, and she received several music awards, like ARIA, Brit and Grammy Awards. She also received a Mo Award for Australian Entertainer of the Year – for the live performances. Moreover she was rewarded with an OBE for her services for the music industry and an Ordre des Arts et des Lettres in 2008.

Except Madonna, she is the only female performer to achieve number one singles in the United Kingdom in the 80s, 90s and 2000s. In 2006, on Kylie Minogue’s website were published pictures of a beautiful breast cancer survivor on her way to recovery. Her boyfriend, Oliver Martinez took the first photos, revealing Kylie without a hair scarf.



The photos of the breast cancer survivor were published so that Kylie Minogue’s fans see she was doing well. She stated: ” I remember those days, when the energy begins to return, and the hair begins to grow back in”. During this dark period of her life, Kylie Minogue managed to fulfill one of her dreams, which is to write a children’s book.
