Everybody knows that the famous pink ribbon is the international symbol of the fight against breast cancer. Ok, ribbons of different colors are used for different types of cancer and the pink one was chosen to represent breast cancer because it is pink - a feminine color representing a type of cancer that is by definition almost completely affecting the women. It is a good thing to use symbols, so you do not need words and a big poster or declarations to show your support for this cause, but you can simply wear a pink ribbon and everybody will understand.
