Basic information - Cancer is a disease in which abnormal body cells begin to multiply uncontrollably. The different types of cancer are named for the area of the body where the abnormal cell growth begins. Breast cancer, therefore, refers to the breast cancer cells. This cancer is also known as breast cancer. When breast cancer cells spread to other parts of the body, the process is called metastasis.



Common types of breast cancer - There are different types of breast cancer, according to the type of cells that become cancerous. Breast cancer can begin in different parts of the breast, such as ducts or lobules.

The common types of breast cancer are: Ductal carcinoma. Breast cancer is the most common. It originates in the cells lining the milk ducts, also known as mammary duct epithelium.
Ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS). The abnormal cancer cells are found only in the epithelium of the breast ducts and have not spread to other tissues of the breast.

Invasive ductal carcinoma. The abnormal cancer cells come out of the ducts to invade other breast tissues. These invading cells can also spread to other body parts.
Lobular carcinoma. In this type of breast cancer, cells originate in the breast lobules. The lobules are glands that produce milk.

Lobular carcinoma in situ (LCIS). Cancer cells are found only in the breast lobules. The LCIS does not usually spread to other breast tissues.
Infiltrating lobular carcinoma. Cancer cells originate in the lobules spread to other nearby breast tissue. These invading cells can also spread to other body parts.

Rare types of breast cancer - Other types of breast cancer, which are more rare, are the so-called Paget's disease or the inflammatory breast cancer. There are a lot of breast cancer images on the internet. Breast cancer images work well on me, because even if I am young and have less chances of developing this type of cancer, I still go to an annual breast examination (which is free, by the way). After seeing all these breast cancer photos on the web, I got scared and I quickly went to the doctor to see if everything is all right.

Once you see the photos, you actually start to acknowledge the gravity of this type of cancer, and not just because it is cancer, but because you actually see the way this cancer deforms your breast. Seeing the pictures, I had a very bad feeling and I start thinking what all these women are going through because of breast cancer. The breast look bad, swollen and red, the nipple is deformed and I can actually image the embarrassment and the discomfort of these women. Breast cancer is a very serious disease and you should take annual breast examinations, because prevention is the best treatment for any disease.
